It was most likely the long joyful agios with the extra part which people tend to skip. Muallem tewfik says this hymn if you scroll down here: http://www.coptichymns.net/module-hymns-catview-pid-42.html
you can find one here around 20 min or so through the first track: http://tasbeha.org/mp3/Divine_Liturgies/Father_Sawerus_Markos_-_Liturgy_of_St_Cyril_in_Holy_Lent.html
God bless

egyboy,
I dont think anyone can give you more meaningful advice than what i am about to write. The reason is because i have gone through what you are going through, even the alhan thing! This is very bad! The point of our beautiful hymns is to prai…

To be completely honest, I really do want to say these hymns but I want to be convinced because I do not think it is right to put my own personal desire to say these hymns over the rites of the church. So please, convince me :)

Hos erof,
I am getting my teaching from the albier's book. If he does not explicitly say that these hymns are chanted, than they are not. That is the whole point of having a book of rites; so we know what exactly is to be chanted and what is not. A…
Yes, I see that the Divine Liturgy continues in the same way, but that is after he mentions Trisagion hymn. Since both, Eparthenos/Pigenmisi and "Penchoice," are chanted before the Trisagion and neither of them were mentioned; it is fair to say that…
Albeirs book was the first placed I checked, and call me crazy, but I don't see where it says that Eparthenos & Apenchoice are chanted.
This was taken from the previous quote in his book:
"The Praxis Response of the glorious Feast of the Nati…
hos erof,
do you mind providing a source to what you stated earlier? When you said: "Nope, only between the Nativity and Circumcision, so that is untill next wednesday!!!" I would appreciate it. Thanks
God bless

Mina,
I find it tedious and pointless to continue to argue with you because no matter what i say or post, it won't make a difference. There is no point in arguing someone who has a "set" opinion; especially one that i believe is set based on spite …
I advise everyone, HCOC members especially, to try not to refute with Mina. It's obvious he is set in his narrow-mindedness, no matter what anyone says to him. I was taught that we, as a Christian community, should support those who are trying to pu…
This hymn is NOT psalm 150 for kiahk! This is Alle el hoos, which is said after el Hos al kabeer. It was a mistake to put it in the liturgy section. Hope this clarifies things.
God bless,
Tony
I also request that we pray for another chris, one who i used to know as someone close to the church, active, and a great servant. This was a long time ago and i hope he comes back. Please pray for him as well.

"Why would others spend that much time, even their whole lives (Ragheb Moftah) to revive what was lost and keep it, and other change it or ignore it.
Tony, you're part of HCOC...stand for your statement....."
It was their decision to keep it in cop…
The bottomline is that it doesn't matter if we are looking for the perfect tune or authenticity in the big picture. By the way, we are not even using the coptic that was chanted back in the days of the formation of our hymns so that hurts your argue…
Minagir,
Coptic hymns do not have to be in coptic to make them "coptic." I know this might be difficult to understand but my definition of coptic is not referring to just the language. I am mainly getting at the theology, faith, and culture. So its…
I recall you saying that you are doing some research in the church architecture, correct? I found a website that might be helpful if you are interested.

Take "Father God" - when you sing it in English do you call it really an Arabic song?
[/quote]
Neither. I call it a protestaunt song :P
The point I'm trying to make is that…
It is just a language. If i get rid of the coptic and replace it with english, we are still saying "Coptic" hymns. The only difference is that it is in english. It does nothing to our heritage other than replace the language; which is not a big deal…
I still dont see the point in changing now. We just have to accept the fact that are stuck with this dialect and that the odds of it going back to the way it was are 1/billions. Lets just try and stay consistent with what we have. After all, its jus…
